A WELCOME
FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF CARNO SHOW– Mr T.H. Thomas
On behalf of the Show committee it gives me great
pleasure to once again welcome our residents and visitors to this Village Show.
In these days of change many of the local shows have
altered in character if not disappeared altogether, but we as a Committee have
attempted to keep much of the traditional mix of features such as the
Horticultural Section, Agricultural and Horse & Pony sections and Art &
Craft classes. The aim is to provide a means of building and enhancing the
‘community’ despite the many pressures currently existing such as the threat to
our local school, the loss of our Station and proposed closure of the Post
Office.
We are in the heart of Mid-Wales with a long history
of farming and craftwork as well as a centre for tourist activities. We want to
celebrate our history whilst embracing the changes in the 21st
Century.
We are grateful for all the support from our local
farming community providing venues, equipment and labour; local shops and
businesses for sponsorship and general goods; various local residents for all
the time freely given towards the continuation of local events/activities such
as this Show. It is very pleasing to note how many newcomers to the area have
become wholeheartedly involved with these efforts and we hope their work bears
fruit with a very enjoyable day this year. Hopefully there will be no rain, no
‘Foot & Mouth’, no ‘Blue Tongue’!
CROESO GAN
GADEIRYDD SlOE CARNO — MR T. H. THOMAS
Ar ran pwyllgor y Sioe, pleser yw croesawu ein
trigolion ac ymwelwyr i Sioe y pentref. Yn yr oes sydd ohoni, mae llawer o
sioeau wedi newid mewn cymeriad, os nad ydynt wedi diflannu yn gyfangwbl. Fel
pwyllgor, rydym wedi ceisio cadw adrannau traddodiadol y sioe fel yr Adran Garddwriaeth,
Amaethyddiaeth, Ceffylau a Celf a Chrefft. Em nod yw ceisio hybu a gwella’r
gymuned leol er gwaetha’r bygythiad i’n hysgol, ein Swyddfa Bost a’n gobaith i
ail agor yr orsaf.
Yma yn y Canolbarth, mae traddodiad amaethyddol,
crefflau gwledig, a chanolfannau twristiaeth yn rhan o’n hetifeddiaeth, a rhaid
ceisio eu diogelu a’u gwarchod yn y ganrif newydd.
Rydym yn ddiolchgar i bawb yn y gymuned am bob
cefhogaeth - y gymuned amaethyddol, siopau a busnesau lleol am eu nawdd ac
hefyd aelodau’r gymuned sydd yn rhoi o’u hamser i’r Sioe. Mae’n foddhad gweld
cynifer o newydd - ddyfodiaid i’r ardal sy’n ymroi i waith y Sioe, a gobeithio
na fydd dim glaw, dim ‘Traed a Genau’ na ‘Thafod Las’ eleni!!
